FoLK TO FOLK
From 2012 to 2014, I co-produced Folk to Folk, an independent documentary project exploring the community process central to contemporary folk and punk music across America. After raising $5,000 through a Kickstarter campaign, my collaborators and I traveled to 32 states to interview, record, and document dozens of musicians and organizers who make up the vibrant yet precarious DIY communities throughout American cities.
We later built an interactive map (pictured, now defunct) to track our travels and stops across the country. The project lives on through our archive of musical performance videos and interviews here and a Tumblr blog here. You can read a blog post I wrote for CartoDB about creating the map here, and view images from our travels here.
