POV Digital Work

From 2012 to 2017, I was a producer at POV | American Documentary, creating new media and interactive projects for the long running PBS series. In addition to helping to launch new storytelling initiatives, I led digital production and online outreach for POV’s documentaries on PBS and helped grow the POV Digital Lab, a signature POV event bringing together technologists and storytellers

POV SnaPCHAT DOCUMENTARIES

I worked closely with directors Lizzie Jacobs, Chanelle Aponte Pearson and Terence Nance as well as graphic and design animators at Slanted Studios, to produce and shape two 6 minute "micro docs". Both were available for 24 hours only (so it goes, it's Snapchat), distributed by NowThis in October 2016. Read a press release about the project here.

Interactive digital shorts

I was the lead on data production and research on the Whiteness Project, an interactive investigation into how white Americans experience their ethnicity, combining short interviews with statistics that provide context to the candid experiences and thoughts shared.

I also helped to produce and distribute the News and Documentary Emmy Award nominated interactive documentary Empire, an interactive documentary that pushes the boundaries of what video can do in a browser. Empire investigates how the impact of the 17th Dutch East and West India Companies' colonial empire can still be seen today in the cultures across the world.

POV Digital Features

POV Digital creates features around POV's documentary films to engage audiences online around the PBS broadcast. During my time at POV, I helped create games, infographics, quizzes and interactive educational resources for POV’s slate of 14-16 documentaries each year.
